Terms of Service
The terms for using MessageHome, including what it is and isn't, cancellation, and how the free trial works.
Who we are
These terms are between you and MessageHome Digital Ltd ("MessageHome", "we", "us").
What MessageHome is
MessageHome is a communication and reminder display: a physical screen that shows WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram and email messages from a family, plus optional daily reminders and calendar events.
What it isn't
Not a medical or emergency service
MessageHome is not a medical device, a monitored emergency response service, or a substitute for a personal alarm. Reminders and escalations are best-effort notifications, sent when the service is working normally; they are not guaranteed to arrive, and nothing about this service should be relied on in a genuine emergency. If you or someone you support needs monitored emergency care, use a dedicated service for that alongside MessageHome, not instead of it.
The tablet and remote device management
If your board runs on a MessageHome-supplied tablet, our support team can manage it remotely to keep it working reliably: restarting it, adjusting screen brightness, clearing its cache, locking or unlocking its wifi settings, and enabling a factory reset if it needs to be recovered or reassigned. These actions are carried out by us remotely and don't require a confirmation on the tablet itself.
We can also request an on-demand screenshot of what's currently showing on the board, to diagnose a fault or help with a support request. Screenshots are automatically deleted within 24 hours of being taken, and every screenshot request is separately logged for 90 days so there's a record of who accessed one and when.
The tablet itself is supplied under a separate tablet agreement, which sets out whether it's sold to you or provided on loan, and what happens to it if you cancel.
Accounts and the free trial
You're also responsible for letting anyone whose number or address you add — and anyone who messages the board — know how their messages are used. Our Privacy Policy covers this for them, and we send a one-off notice to first-time WhatsApp and Telegram senders.
Cancelling
You can cancel from your family page at any time. Cancelling stops the account from progressing to a paid subscription; the board itself is not deleted immediately, so you can get back in touch if you change your mind. You can also delete your board and all its data from your family page — this is permanent and cannot be undone once carried out.
Because you buy online or at a distance, you also have a legal right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel within 14 days of the day after you subscribe, for a full refund. If you've asked us to start the service within those 14 days, you'll only be charged for the service actually used up to the point you cancel. If you bought a tablet, the same 14-day window applies to returning it for a refund. To cancel, contact us in writing (email is fine) within 14 days.
Acceptable use
Don't use MessageHome to send illegal, abusive, or harassing content, or to try to access boards, accounts or data that aren't yours.
Illegal, abusive or harassing content sent to a board
Trying to access boards, accounts or data that aren't yours
We can suspend or remove an account that's used this way.
Service availability
We aim to keep the service running reliably, and we monitor it, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Third-party providers we depend on (Twilio, Telegram, MailerSend, Fly.io) can also experience outages outside our control.
Liability
MessageHome is provided as-is
- To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect losses.
- We aren't liable for a message, reminder or escalation that failed to arrive due to a fault in a third-party service, a connectivity issue, or an outage.
- Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't legally be excluded, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be communicated to account organisers by email where reasonably possible.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
