How MessageHome actually works.

Everything below happens from a private family admin page, never on the board itself, which stays a single simple screen for whoever's actually reading it.

Getting messages onto the board

Where it starts: the dashboard, the channels that reach it, the app, and voice messages.

01

Your family admin page

Everything here is set from a private admin page, never on the board itself. No password and a private link goes to the organiser each time it's needed.

02

Connecting each channel

WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and email each connect with one quick step from the sender's own phone and after that, their messages reach the board automatically.

03

The MessageHome app

Simply add it to your phone home screen, and send straight to the board. Tap a category, choose if you want a confirmation, record a voice note, send a photo or delay the message to appear later.

04

Voice messages

Record a short message instead of typing. The message shows up on the board as a big play button, no reading and nothing to type back.

07

Picture Messages

Send a picture message and it appears on the board with a large image preview and your message

06

Reminders & escalation

Send a reminder and a Mark done button shows on the board next to the message. If it doesnt get marked as done, a chosen contact receives a notification

07

Yes/No messages

Send a simple yes or no message with a single tap and it appears on the board with a Yes or No button. Once they click, a reply is sent to your phone.

Staying calm and informed

What the board does while nothing much is happening, and what it does the moment something is.

7

Your board

Messages with an icon-led routine layout. Eight categories, a calm Now/Next view with the option to see the weeks schedule, and a carer's photo ahead of their visit.

08

Daily check-ins

The board asks a simple "how are you" with four big icons to answer. No typing, and you receive a notification straight away. You can easily customise how often these check-ins appear to suit your preferences (such as once, twice, or three times a day)

09

Messages & Alerts

Messages show in white text when sent via the messaging app, Whatsapp, Telegram or SMS. They show in blue text if they are a scheduled event . Mark it urgent and it will be shown in red, with a Mark Done button.

10

Reward styles for different needs

Ten different styles, from a quiet tick to a warm congratulations message decided by the family. Meaning, what happens when a routine's done actually fits the person.

11

The idle screen

Clock, weather and preview of their up and coming events/tasks. The screen switches straight back the instant a message or unconfirmed reminder needs attention.

12

Board health & battery alerts

The hardware's watched too. If a board is unplugged or its battery runs low, an alert goes out by email and Telegram to a person you specify straight away.

13

Visit check-in

For elderly and care home boards: a calendar event for a carer visit gets its own arrival/departure prompt on the board, tapped by the visitor, turning "they were supposed to come" into a confirmed record.

Board configuration & customisation

How the board looks, feels and behaves is in your control

14

Colour scheme

Choose from one of 7 predefined colour schemes. helps with visual stress, sensory overwhelm, or just easier reading in different light. Applies everywhere on the board straight away, as a gentle fade,

15

Font Size and Line Spacing

Adjust the font size and line spacing to improve readability and accommodate different visual needs. This can be particularly helpful for users with visual impairments or those who prefer a more comfortable reading experience.

16

Symbol Support

Enable optional Makaton and Widgit-style picture symbols alongside message text to support reading, comprehension, and confidence whenever needed.

17

Night & Quiet Mode

Set scheduled quiet hours via the family portal to mute notifications and dim the display at bedtime for undisturbed sleep. Arrange for read messages to be cleared whilst they sleep.

18

Daily Task Lead

Assign a designated family member each day or week to follow up on scheduled tasks and ensure everything runs smoothly.

19

Accessibility

Large type throughout, set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision. Nothing relies on colour alone to convey meaning, animations respect a device's reduced-motion setting, and sound is always optional.

20

Data & privacy

Messages go to their board and nowhere else. No advertising, no data-selling, no analysis beyond what's needed to show them. Only people explicitly connected can ever reach a board. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
